Access of the pulp chamber

A recent radiograph of the element is necessary. Before starting with the treatment the contour and the position of the radices will be inspected carefully. Without rubberdam (to have good visual inspection of the element and the radices as far as possible) the access cavity will be prepared in the middle of the pulp chamber to prevent the risk of false roots.

After penetration of the pulpchamber the preparation will be expanded until the complete roof of the pulp chamber is removed. The rubberdam is now placed. The use of the Operating Microscope makes the removal of the roof of the pulp chamber a lot more simple. The difference in the structures can be seen a lot better.

Depending on the material which is to be penetrated there are many differentburs available. The burs which are used mostly will be mentioned and shown here.

The floor of the pulp chamber is carefully cleaned. Secondary dentine is is removed. The entrances to the root canals are prepared. Try to avoid dentine particles falling into the root canals. Good cleaning of the pulp chamber floor is necessary. With the help of Methylene blue (with the Operating Microscope) canal entrances can be detected.
